It has been long believed by the Chinese that water is one of the five important elements of Feng Shui. The five elements include: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Chi is the energy that governs spirit, health, fate and environment. If Chi is flowing properly, then there is good Feng Shui. Indeed, a goal of Feng Shui is to make the self more compatible with nature and everyday life in order to have a positive impact on finances, health and emotions.

Utilizing a water feature is believed to have a positive impact on career success. The water element has a direct association with the flow of money. Feng Shui principles suggest that Chi flows more smoothly when a room, house or apartment is a square shape. However, if this is not the case for you, a water feature can be placed in an area to act as a corner. The water feature then acts to keep lively Chi circulating. Additionally, gardens are the 'arms' around your home. They bring life energy to your environment, especially when completed with some water fountains. Garden is the Yin and the home is the Yang, so your garden should reflect the balance of Yin and Yang.

According to Feng Shui, the most optimal positions to place a water fountain are North, East and Southeast. Interior and exterior water fountains move and stimulate Chi while also providing a relaxing focal point. There are many different sizes and styles of water fountains from which to choose. Consider purchasing a water fountain to encourage positive Chi flow inside and outside your home.
